Claim for the avoidable death of young baby due to failure to monitor his mother correctly
We have recently represented the parents of a baby who tragically died at Kettering General Hospital when he was eight days old.
We have represented a young girl in her clinical negligence claim, which arose from a delay in the diagnosis and treatment of her dislocated hips at birth. We investigated her early paediatric care and evidenced the failure to make a timely diagnosis of hip dysplasia.
The claimant was born by ventouse delivery at 41 weeks gestation. His condition was poor on delivery, with grunting, jitteriness and some bleeding from the umbilical cord.

Settlement of claim for hearing loss and cognitive injury caused by pneumococcal meningitis
A claim was made in relation to injuries sustained shortly after our client’s birth. Our client developed pneumococcal meningitis, which would have been avoided with appropriate treatment. Hearing loss was subsequently identified as a result of the infection.
A claim was made on behalf of our client in relation to brain damage sustained at birth. Her mother suffered a ruptured uterus and required an emergency caesarean.
In the landmark case of Montgomery v Lanarkshire, Lady Hale made the following concluding remarks in her judgment: “It is now well recognised that the interest which the law of negligence protects is a person’s interest in their own physical and psychiatric integrity, an important feature of which is their autonomy, their freedom to decide what shall and shall not be done with their body.”
We have settled a claim for a woman who suffered a number of errors in her maternity care, while she was a patient of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, tragically leading to the stillbirth of her son.
Our client, HHH, was born with a particularly rare underlying degenerative condition which was associated with spinal deterioration.
Our medical negligence team has settled a claim for a woman who suffered from psychological injuries following the use of a balloon catheter while in hospital to give birth. A balloon catheter is a device that can be inserted into the uterus and inflated to try to induce labour.

We recently settled a claim against Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust after our client received an insufficient dosage of anticoagulant medication shortly after giving birth via caesarean section.
We have successfully settled a claim for a client who suffered injury to her left ureter during a caesarean section. Our client had undergone a category two caesarean section due to obstructed labour.
