Surgical error claims
We secured compensation from Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust for a client who had a small piece of plastic tubing left inside her after weight loss surgery.
Our client was 18 years old when she first saw her GP in 2009 with problems with her right arm circulation and pain in her right shoulder. She was diagnosed with Raynaud’s phenomenon, a common condition that affects the blood supply to some parts of the body. She was referred for an X-ray that confirmed the presence of a cervical rib together with thoracic outlet syndrome, a condition caused by nerves and blood vessels becoming compressed by a lack of space between the base of the neck and the armpit.
In this medically complex case, our client was transferred to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington to remove a catheter which had become knotted and stuck in his left iliac vein during an ablation under general anaesthetic.
Our client was admitted to BMI Healthcare’s Hampshire Clinic for the removal of a lesion in the salivary gland. During the operation, a Redivac drain was inserted into his neck.
We have recently settled a case against East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust involving an incorrectly performed catheterisation which had serious consequences.
We have recently settled a claim against Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust for alleged damage caused to our 82 year old client’s left phrenic nerve during the course of aortic valve replacement surgery.
We settled a claim for a client who had longstanding sinus difficulties which were attributed to polyps. As conservative management did not improve his symptoms, he underwent surgery to remove the polyps at a private hospital.
We have recently settled a claim on behalf of a client against a private consultant gastroenterologist at the BUPA Cromwell Hospital in London for alleged failings in the management of a gallstone.
We have successfully settled a claim for injuries resulting from negligently performed surgery to correct the chest deformity ‘pectus excavatum’ which is colloquially known as 'funnel chest'.
