Senior associate

Beth is a senior associate in the family law team in Guildford. She supports partners in complex UHNW and HNW cases as well as running her own caseload. She advises on all areas of family law for married and unmarried couples, with a particular specialism in complex financial matters, including those with international assets across multiple jurisdictions. Her recent cases have included overseas property and assets in Dubai, Austria, Liechtenstein, Pakistan, France and Singapore.

Beth has had a number of recent successes in complex and high value cases involving non-disclosure and other forms of egregious litigation misconduct in which she has secured significant costs orders for her clients. One of these cases was described by senior counsel as ‘the most extreme case of non-disclosure ever seen’. In litigated matters, she works on cases throughout Surrey and the South East and has acted on cases at the High Court. Beth also regularly advises client on the alternatives to court and supports them in resolving issues using solicitor negotiations, mediation and private settlement hearings.

A member of Resolution, Beth advocates a constructive and compassionate approach to the resolution of family problems. She joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2018 having trained and qualified at another leading family law team in the region.

Recent work highlights

Preservation of non-matrimonial property

Successfully negotiating a financial settlement for a husband which almost entirely preserved his pre-marital and inherited assets.

Dispute resolution for international families

Acting successfully for a wife who was living in Dubai and moving back to the UK, to negotiate a swift and cost-effective settlement on her behalf which avoided the need for court proceedings.

UHNW litigation success

Assisting on a highly contentious case in the High Court where the assets were circa £42 million and the properties, investments and business assets were spread over seven jurisdictions and required forensic investigation.

Cases of egregious non-disclosure

Acting for spouses faced by respondents who sought to conceal their true wealth over many years and refused to participate in proceedings. We achieved settlements that provided them with their fair share of matrimonial assets.

Challenging health issues

Representing vulnerable clients with complex physical and mental health conditions or carers for children facing these challenges and achieving agreed settlements or otherwise successful outcomes in court and private settlement hearings.
